  • Obtained summary judgment for upstream producer in royalty dispute with landowner following oral argument before federal judge
  • Lead counsel for upstream producer in federal lawsuit alleging breach of preferential purchase right provision
  • Lead counsel for defendant in $9.5 million royalty dispute in Houston federal court
  • Defended Texas-based energy company in $6 million dispute with Louisiana Department of Revenue
  • Lead counsel for upstream company in lawsuit with royalty owner over promissory note; prevailed at the trial court and affirmed at the Fifth Circuit.
  • Goodrich Petroleum Company, LLC – litigation lead in chapter 11 proceeding involving 100+ claims and contested matters

  • Counsel for two bankers in administrative enforcement proceedings before the Comptroller of the Currency
  • TriStar Investors, Inc. – Represented a cell tower operator and its executives in federal court in Dallas against a competitor, the nation’s largest tower company; claims involved more than 600 cell towers and nearly $1 billion; prosecuted and defended against RICO, antitrust, Lanham Act, business disparagement, and tortious interference claims; defended individual executives accused of RICO violations; obtained summary judgment dismissing competitor’s RICO and antitrust

  • Texas Health Resources – advised board of the largest hospital system in DFW on litigation matters
  • Prevailed on a motion to dismiss on behalf of a Texas hospital system in a federal case filed by another hospital alleging theft of trade secrets
  • Brought and defended claims in commercial landlord-tenant lawsuits
  • Represented a telecommunications company and its executives in disputes with insurers related to insurance coverage
  • Defended a major retailer in the Facebook beacon privacy litigation, including two nationwide class actions alleging violations of federal privacy laws
  • Defended one of the nation’s largest airports in a dispute with one of its largest concessionaires and obtained dispositive ruling on governmental immunity
  • Successfully obtained dismissal of $100 million tortious interference suit against the Dallas mayor
  • On the trial team that prevailed on behalf of the plaintiff in a US$250 million bond validation trial in Texas state court
  • Defended the Dallas mayor and six council members in a suit under the Texas Open Meetings Act arising out of the city’s agreement to resolve the Wright Amendment controversy; the case was dismissed by the trial court and the result was affirmed on appeal
